Cleveland Cavaliers franchise guard Kyrie Irving sprained his right shoulder during the second quarter of Friday’s 121-84 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The top overall pick of the 2011 draft, Irving finished with a game-high 29 points. He is expected to undergo additional evaluation before the team decides if he’ll play in Saturday’s tilt versus the New York Knicks.
“I’m in pain right now, but (I’m) getting through it, taking a lot of Advil and anti-inflammatories and (going) from there,” Irving said. “Throughout the third quarter, (I) still shot the ball, but (there’s) just a lot of pain in my shoulder right now. I’ve just got to get through it.”
Irving is averaging 18.9 points and 5.7 assists during his rookie season with the Cavaliers.
