New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler may miss Game 1 of the team’s first round playoff series against the Miami Heat on Saturday with the flu.
ESPN New York reported on Friday that Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson made the announcement that there is a “strong possibility” that Chandler would be unavailable for the game in Miami.
If Chandler does not play, he would be replaced by Jared Jeffries.
Chandler sat out Thursday’s regular season finale to rest a sore knee and wrist.
He did not practice on Friday.
Chandler helped the Dallas Mavericks win the NBA championship last year with his standout low-post defensive play.
The Knicks have their work cut out for them against the Heat, the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
