“American Idol” Contestant Phillip Phillips Seeks Medical Treatment

With the next American Idol results show merely hours away, 21-year-old contestant Phillip Phillips is currently battling abdomen pains. TMZ reports Phillips was taken to seek treatment early Thursday morning after complaining of severe discomfort. Sources are not clear on his condition at this time, but did reveal that Phillips was hospitalized for similar symptoms in January.

The guitar-playing hopeful with the funny name appeared on last night’s live Top 13 performance round, tackling Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” just as we all expected him to do. There’s no word on whether or not Phillips will be able to appear on tonight’s results show, but worst case scenario, the Idol machine has been down this road before. Casey Abrams was hospitalized for stomach pains during season 10, which led him to miss a live results show, but survive elimination. On the flip side, season 1′s Christina Christian was eliminated while she was in the hospital recovering from dehydration.
