Nelly Furtado’s New Single to Be About…Earrings?

We haven’t heard from Nelly Furtado in a while—in English, especially—and the last time she went away from our lives for a while, she came back with a totally new sound and personality. So it’s occurred to us that with her upcoming album T.S.I., we could be due for a Nelly Furtado 3.0, a completely revamped Nelly with another new set of interests. Perhaps we could get a clue from the title of her new single, which she announced over Twitter yesterday, due to be released in late April—will the name of Nell’s latest song give us insight into where her head is at at the moment?

So…earrings, then? Well, we guess everybody likes those, though most singers seem to assume that their appreciation of said accessories can be taken for a given, without having to actually write a comeback single about them. Or maybe it’s a metaphor of some kind? We’re intrigued, and somewhat confused—though in reality, it might not be any more or less likely a single title than “Promiscuous Girl” probably seemed six years ago.
