OKC Club Owner: “Drake Brought the Cops With His Weed and Left Me to Foot the Bill!”

“Marijuana Mayhem in Oklahoma City club,” reads the TMZ headline. “Mayhem” might be a bit strong, but it does appear that rapper/singer Drake has landed the owners of the Dollhouse Lounge in Oklahoma City in a fair bit of trouble. According to a letter obtained by the gossip sight, the club owners are claiming that Drake owes them a for-real solid after he asked them to open the club for a private party of his earlier this March, then smoked so much weed that the owners had to shut down the party, then deal with the cops once they inevitably showed up. The club owner got arrested, then slapped with a hefty fine, which Drizzy is now being asked to help pay some or all of—a total in the multiple thousands.

It’s probably the right thing to do for Drake to make good on his debts here, and we hope and expect that he’ll be mensch enough to do it. Still, a part of us wants to say to the club owner—you let a rapper, a close buddy of Lil Wayne’s no less, open your club for a private party, and you weren’t prepared for the heavy likelihood that you’d have a mushroom cloud’s worth of weed smoke to deal with at some point? Playing with fire, to say the least.
