Rihanna To “Talk That Talk” On SNL

The Popdust Files: rihanna, saturday night live
It wouldn’t be a Rihanna album cycle without an accompanying Saturday Night Live appearance; after all, both her last albums had one: Rated R in 2009 with “Russian Roulette” and “Hard,” and Loud in 2010 with “Only Girl (in the World)” and “What’s My Name.” And so it goes with Talk That Talk; Rihanna will appear on SNL on May 5, presumably to promote two things: upcoming single “Where Have You Been,” which will be released to radio three days later, and her movie Battleship, out in the U.S. on May 18. Expect the former single to be performed; if she does two songs, it’s a tossup between “We Found Love”–the only unequivocally successful TTT single yet–or one of the follow-up singles in need of chart goosing.
And about (one of) those follow-up singles, because we sort of have to note this: MTV points out that May 5 is Chris Brown’s birthday. SNL‘s year of Internet controversy-baiting aside, this had better be an utter coincidence. “Birthday Cake” would be a weird fit for SNL, anyway.
