We Totally Knew That This Bieber “Otis” Freestyle Wasn’t Actually a “Freestyle”

Don’t get mad, JB—we still think it’s a fairly good verse, and your flow is righteous for an 18-year-old Canadian, no doubt. We just knew that your skills weren’t quite as such (yet!) that you could freestyle for an entire two minutes over a beat off the top of your head, including references to the song you were freestyling over and such. The fact that it probably wasn’t a totally legit freestyle became especially obvious yesterday when he repeated his verses verbatim over the same beat for British video site SB.TV, even with the same sort of dramatic pauses as the first time around. Gotta say, though, there’s something missing this time—a lack of energy, of excitement, of a hat, something. (Maybe it’s just on our end).
Hope that The Bieb mixes it up a little for his inevitable rap cuts on Believe, at least. “Call me Zack Morris / I’m saving you by the bell” just isn’t as cute the second or third time around.
