President Obama Shouts Out Young Jeezy During White House Dinner

Back in 2008, Young Jeezy saluted Barack Obama with his single, “My President” off the The Recession album. The track paid tribute to the first Black President’s historic winning campaign.
On Saturday night (April 28), the Commander-in-Chief shot the nod of respect back to Jeezy.
“In my first term I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy,” Obama joked during the White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner, which was hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel, on Saturday night. “Michelle said, ‘Yeah.’ I sing that to her sometimes.”
It didn’t take long for the Snowman to learn of the Presidential praise.
“Shout out to @BarackObama,” Jeezy tweeted out to his masses. “You know they love the snowman in the white house. #Turntup”
The moment isn’t the first that President Obama has chimed in on rappers, either.
Just last month in March during an interview with The Atlantic, when asked about who he prefers Jay-Z or Kanye West, Obama offered:
“Jay-Z. Although I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented. He is a jackass. But he’s talented.”
It was the second time that Obama called ’Ye a donkey in three years, the first coming shortly after Yeezy’s infamous interruption of country pop princess Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
In the past, Jay-Z has boasted about texting Obama, while the President himself bragged about having Jigga, Nas and Lil Wayne on his iPod. Obama also publically referenced Weezy before, once telling America’s youth during a speech,“Maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not,” in an urge to get them to aspire to be greater.—Mark Lelinwalla
