Carson Daly may not have much of note to say or do on the actual show of The Voice, but perhaps he’s just saving his insightful commentary for his EW blogs about the show. (That’s the more important thing anyway, right?) He wrote for the magazine about the show’s finale last night, sounding off on the show’s four remaining contestants. He talks about how Jermaine Paul has “found his frontman voice,” how Juliet has “so much star power…even when she’s under the weather” (which she really was last night, apparently) and how you “may not hear [Chris Mann] 90 times a day on the radio, but I think he’ll be very successful.”

But we don’t wanna hear about all that. We wanna hear about Christina Aguilera vs. Tony Lucca, the two ex-Mickey Mouse Club cast members, who just haven’t been on the same page from the beginning, and now have seen their long-simmering feud spill out onto the internet. Carson says of the tension between the two all season:

Tony Lucca said a very telling thing last night when he said that Christina referring to him as “one dimensional” forever changed the course of his career, in a lot of ways. Here was somebody who, when we met him in the blind auditions, was established. When Christina came looking for Tony in the blind auditions and they reunited, it connotated that even though they weren’t on the same team, that Tony would have an ally in Christina. And that has just not been the case, as we’ve all seen.

So that’s led Tony and Adam, who have this great connection, to skew their angle on the show, and that’s been to be these wildcard performances. Some of them were sort of geared towards Christina, with “Baby, One More Time” and “How You Like Me Now?” and even last night with “99 Problems”…But Christina’s comments and the way she’s treated Tony have been fuel for him. I don’t think he ever expected that to happen, but that’s been a good thing for Tony because it’s brought the best out of him.

It’s probably true that without the subtle back-and-forth between Christina and Tony/Adam—Christina making some petty criticism of Tony’s performances, Tony basically answering back with his and Adam’s song choice—he never would have made it this far in the competition. The subplot gave him something interesting to work with, gave an added heft and meaning to his performances when, to be honest, he wasn’t all that interesting a singer or performer on his own. Perhaps Christina deserves some credit for giving him not only the fuel, but the subject matter, to get to where he is today, to the point where he actually has a fairly decent chance of winning the whole thing.

For better or worse, the bad blood doesn’t appear to have been entirely let out during yesterday’s performance, though. Yahoo! reports insiders telling them that Christina and Adam are still at loggerheads with one another, expecting it to come to blows (hopefully only metaphorically) on the finale of finales tonight. “They legitimately despise each other,” says said source. “Christina is still demanding that Adam be fired from the show and not come back next season.” What’s worse, the source is claiming that Adam now wants to re-record #1 hit “Moves Like Jagger” to cut out Christina’s verse. Wait, actually, that’s a great idea. Can you patch up this nonsense and record that edit anyway, Adam? Thanks.
