Hm, maybe it’s not too late to set up a Popdust outpost at the Cannes film festival after all. After yesterday’s revelation that one movie screened features Marion Cotillard and some orcas dancing to Katy Perry’s “Firework” comes news today that a movie will be screened next week will come courtesy of esteemed film auteur Kanye West, entitled Cruel Summer. The movie will be a “7 screen experience” (all at once?? Yikes) of a “semi-sci-fi” nature and will be viewable to the public as an art installation of sorts for a couple days. (The above image is the film poster, depicting…not much.)
No word about the plot yet, but assuming it’s a remake of the music video for ’80s UK girl group Bananarama’s top ten hit “Cruel Summer,” it should be about three girls wearing overalls, giving some cops the business and generally strutting around like they own the place. Can’t wait for the 7-screen DVD!!
