Pusha T and Lil Wayne might have the entire G.O.O.D. Music and Young Money families beefing at the moment, but Weezy isn’t gonna let silly grudges keep him from keeping to his tight release schedule. His previously recorded “My Homies Still,” rumored to be from Wayne’s upcoming I Am Not a Human Being 2 (has it really been so long since IANAHB1?), features G.O.O.D. soldier Big Sean, with Wayne even referencing the “Go stupid, go stupid” chants from Big Sean’s “Dance (A$ $ )” in the song’s chorus. (Big Sean returns the favor in one of his verses, rapping “Lookin’ like Eazy-E, it’s just me and Lil’ Weezy We.”)
All quiet on the Midwestern front? Maybe, maybe not—the song was recorded prior to the beef, but it’s probably good that Tunechi didn’t demand all copies of it be evaporated from existence for having Big Sean’s Pusha-T-lovin’ stank all over it. Plus, the song’s not even particularly good, so the stakes can’t be all that high. Maybe this was all just hype-building for I Am Not a Human Being 2 in the first place? Based on the fact that Wayne mentions in the song that he’s listening to Rebirth—perhaps the only album in his back catalogue less well-received than IANAHB—maybe he’s hoping for an entire discography reappraisal. Good luck with that, Weezy.
