Stay Mad: Mariah Carey’s ‘MTV Unplugged’ Turns 20

Time flies when you’re greasing Da Brat’s scalp with Blue Magic in the back of Magic City. It’s been 20 years since Mariah Carey proved that her vocal prowess was not the product of studio trickery with her acclaimed MTV ‘Unplugged’ performance.

Filmed on March 16, 1992 the then 22-year old silenced her detractors with a Grade A performance and prompted Columbia Records to release it as an EP on June 2, 1992. Now who mad? Watch Mimikins perform her much lauded cover of the Jackson 5′s “I’ll Be There” after the jump.
