J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, French Montana, Chief Keef, and of course, Drizzy Drake himself—you could make a pretty strong case that the Club Paradise tour counts as a legit rap festival each and every time it pops off. But with a marquee date in New York’s Jones Beach coming up for the tour, Young Money’s main attraction sets his sights higher than your average low-grade hip-hop gathering, towards the genre’s signature yearly fest—Hot 97′s Summer Jam festival, which, of course, drew the ire of Drake’s labelmates with DJ Peter Rosenberg’s pre-show Nicki Minaj dis. When asked by an interviewer from Lil Wayne’s Bread Over Bed website about the upcoming Saturday concert, Aubrey offered the following statement:

They fucked up Summer Jam, so I’m just gonna do Summer Jam –how it’s supposed to go.

The interviewer’s “ooooooooooh!” reaction is appropriate—if this Drake statement doesn’t mean that it’s gonna be on and popping at Jones Beach this Saturday, we don’t even know what would. We expect not only cameos from Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and all other YMCMB personnel conspicuously absent from the original 2012 Summer Jam, but a Canada Pride segment Justin Bieber and Our Girl Carly Rae Jepsen as well, and probably some sort of Mack Dre astral projection for the encore. Can’t wait!
