It’s hard to believe for a girl who’s taken up so much space on this website (and in our hearts) these last few months, but south of the border—the north one—we’ve still yet to get an entire full-length album from Our Girl Carly Rae Jepsen. Her 2008 debut effort Tug of War remains Canada-only, and all we’ve gotten since then on U.S. soil is her Curiosity EP from earlier this year. A full-length Stateside debut to enjoy the victory lap of her fantastic Top 40 success is imminent, and indeed, as she recently told MTV News, it’s almost a wrap. Carly Rae explains:
At this point, my record is almost finished. It’s pretty close, just wrapping up the loose ends…I feel like the songs are mostly there, but there’s still some production and stuff to be done, but we’re close. We’re at the home stretch.
The home stretch, people! To prove it, elsewhere in the article, Jepsen reveals her goal to have her album “released right before she hits the road as Bieber’s opening act on the Believe Tour,” kicking off September 29th. There you have it—a full album of ten songs exactly as good as “Call Me Maybe” (at least!), due in three months or less. We predict that as soon as it comes into our life, we will realize just how bad we missed it all along.
