Tesla Releases Pricing, Final Specs on Model S
The news the world has been waiting for broke today: Tesla has priced the Model S.
Tesla is advertising the Model S with a 40 kWh battery pack will retail for $ 49,900 AFTER the $ 7,500 tax credit. Jumping to a 60 kWh battery pack will set you back $ 59,900 AFTER the tax credit and the big, 300-mile range 85 kWh battery runs $ 69,900…everyone with me now, AFTER the Federal tax credit.
Topping the range is the $ 79,900 (after tax credit) Model S Performance. That car gets the big battery, a high-performance drive inverter and exterior carbon fiber. It’s the one that does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and has the upgraded top speed of 130 mph.
The two versions of the 85 kWh Model S enter production in the summer of 2012 while the cheaper models will have to wait until Fall (60 kWh) and Winter (40 kWh). So while it won’t be out until after the expensive ones, Tesla is going to match the price that they first announced for the Model S back in ’09.
Tesla has set up a new website detailing all of the features, options and technical specifications on the new Model S which you can view here.
