2012 New York Auto Show: 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel Brings 406 Pound-Feet of Torque, 28 MPG

Porsche apparently couldn’t wait for tomorrow’s start of the 2012 New York Auto Show as they’ve officially unveiled the 2013 Cayenne Diesel today.

The 2013 Cayenne diesel is loaded with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel cranking out 240 horsepower and a whopping 406 pound-feet of torque from only 1,750 rpm.

If these numbers sound familiar, it’s because this is the same V6 that’s in the Audi Q7 TDI which has only 225 horsepower but the same torque. In our testing, the Q7 TDi hi 60 in 8.3 seconds, Porsche is estimating that the Cayenne Diesel (available with standard AWD and 8-speed automatic transmission) will hit 60 in 7.2 seconds and go on to a top speed of 135 mph. Porsche’s also claiming some impressive fuel economy numbers returning 20 mpg city / 28 mpg highway and 23 combined. The Cayenne V6 returns 16/19/23 with the 8-speed automatic transmission.

This performance and economy won’t come cheap ( not that you expected it to), the 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel will cost $ 56,725
