Now that Porsche has brought brown back to the acceptable palatte for new cars, we’re switching our attention over to blue. Wildly underrepresented, blue is a color that’s masculine and bright. And on the right car, blue makes a car look that much more like a toy designed to capture the attention of children.
Chevy gets this. They’ve done blue on the C6 Corvette for as long as we can remember and the ZR-1– formerly Blue Devil — was initially featured in blue. Unfortunately after 2010 Jetstream Blue was canned and the remarkably bland Supersonic Blue (more gray) was introduced. And then GM showed Carlisle blue at SEMA and I pretended blue never existed in the spectrum.
Now, for 2013, Chevy’s back with a new interesting color (and some new black wheels) for the Corvette. The new color is called Night Race BlueIt’s no Jetstream blue — not by a longshot — but it’ll do.
