Subaru BRZ Gets First Official Motorsports Win — in Japan’s Gymkhana Series
It’s no surprise that a relatively inexpensive, rear-drive car like the Subaru BRZ is already heavily involved in motorsports, and over the weekend, this particular BRZ racecar scored what is apparently the first official BRZ motorsports win anywhere in the world – a PN2 class victory in Round 2 of the All Japan Gymkhana Championship series. A Toyota 86 finished 5th (more details on the finishing order over at Tune86).
The driver, Tetsuya Yamano, didn’t exactly come from out of nowhere. He is a veteran of Super GT and already competes in a GT300 class BRZ. We haven’t yet dug up video of his latest gymkhana run at the TS Takata Circuit in Akitakata, Hiroshima, Japan, but after the jump, there’s video of Yamano on a gymkhana course in a stock BRZ.
