2013 Hyundai Sonata Gets Shuffled Equipment and Price Bumps, Drops Manual Model

Hyundai altered the 2013 Sonata model range to include more standard features than last year’s already well-equipped model while also increasing prices a bit for each trim level. It didn’t have three-pedal enthusiasts in mind, however, as one of those new standard features is an automatic transmission.

At the bottom of the Sonata ladder, the GLS starts at $ 21,670 and includes a now-standard six-speed automatic transmission; the manual model, which started at $ 20,570, was discontinued due to its low take rate. The GLS auto is $ 100 more expensive than last year.

The SE comes in at $ 24,120 for the 2.4-liter four-cylinder and $ 25,670 for the 2.0T, which is a $ 150 bump. All SE models now include heated seats, making the GLS the only model lacking them as standard equipment. (Warm chairs can be added to the GLS through the $ 825 Popular package, which now includes them and front fog lights.)

The Limited costs $ 26,620 and $ 28,370 for the 2.4 and 2.0T, respectively, which is a $ 600 drop from last year’s models. Limited models with the 2.4-liter will now come with a regular sunroof; the Limited Premium package, a $ 2900 option over the Limited, adds a panoramic sunroof, which was previously standard Limited fare. Limited models powered by the 274-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four will come with the SE’s 18-inch aluminum wheels, dual exhaust, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
