The car that Aston Martin has tasked with replacing the DBS—which will look very similar to the AM310 concept seen above—will be called the Vanquish. The One-77–inspired Aston flagship will keep the DBS’s 6.0-liter V-12 but power will get bumped to at least 550 hp. (For more details on what to expect, check out our spy-photo story on the new Vanquish.)The Vanquish nameplate last saw action at Aston from 2001–2007 before it was replaced by the outgoing DBS. Recently, Aston has been creating or reviving nameplates instead of using generic, alphanumeric nomenclature for its models. The Rapide, Virage, Vantage, and, uh, Cygnet all have received such treatment. Dropping the sporadic assortment of letters and numbers in favor of the Vanquish name continues this welcome trend.
