Chevy SS, Holden Commodore Set to Debut at 2013 Daytona 500
Back in mid May, GM finally confirmed what we’ve all been speculating for far too long: They will be bringing a rear-drive, full-size sedan to the U.S. market based on the upcoming VF Holden Commodore under the heading of the 2014 Chevy SS.
They did not, however, announce when we would see this next-gen G8. But now we know, according to Drive out of Australia, that the new Chevy SS along with the next-generation Holden Commodore will debut at the 2013 Daytona 500 on February 21, 2013.
The SS is going to be a low-volume car for GM and will focus on technology, luxury and performance. Hopefully in the exact reverse of that order. Still on word on the exact engine options, but the 6.2-liter V8 is the most likely candidate followed by a supercharged LSA-powered super SS to follow.
