Porsche To Offer Power Kit for 2013 911 Carrera S, Bumps Power to 430
The option list for the Porsche 911 Carrera S will get a little bit longer early this fall, as the automaker will offer new power and aero kits. The power kit option is the real deal: Rather than merely giving you a new ECU profile, it provides a (subtly) modified cylinder head with a more aggressive camshaft profile, plus an additional resonance flap in the intake to provide a slightly different sound.
The result is a bump in horsepower from 400 to 430, and it’s enough of an increase that Porsche added an additional center radiator. The package is likely to be a big-ticket add-on, as it’s bundled with the current Sport Chrono ($ 1,850) and Sport Exhaust ($ 2,950) options. Apparently, the power increase won’t affect fuel mileage.
Meanwhile, a ducktail spoiler is now available if you’re missing the tea tray we had on our 1985 “Black Plague” 911, and there’ll be an Aerokit Cup package, as seen here, with a fixed rear wing mounted over the standard spoiler, plus a front lip spoiler and additional air inlets.
