It’s simply amazing that almost every original Air Jordan in history is directly tied to a magnificent moment not just in MJ’s career, but in the entire history of the NBA. The ‘Shot’ against the Cavs, the Triple-Double in the ’97 All-Star Game, the Flu Game, the Last Shot – that should be enough of a message to the Championship-less superstars in Kevin Durant and LeBron James that a lot of work is left to be done. Just a few days ago (June 3rd to be exact), the twentieth Anniversary of one of the most memorable MJ moments was celebrated; Michael, who was hardly a perimeter marksman during the earlier part of his career, hit six three-pointers in the first Half of Game 1 of the ’92 NBA Finals. Like the millions of fans watching at home and in the arena, Jordan was utterly dumbfounded at his feat, looking at the scorer’s table with a “WTH” facial expression while shrugging in confusion while jogging back on defense.
It’s these types of out-of-his-element performances that defined Jordan’s career; six three-pointers made up roughly one-fourth of all the treys he hit that entire season, which actually proves that Jordan was an offensive beast without having to rely on the long-ball. Jordan and the Bulls eventually won the Series, giving MJ his second straight and overall NBA Championship with ‘The Shrug’ being the defining moment of that entire series. Later this year, you’ll have the opportunity to celebrate ‘The Shrug’ as the Black/True Red returns in its original form, so take a look at this pristine OG below for a quick reminder of what he rocked two decades ago.
